Softball Game Preview: LaBrae Vikings vs. Poland Seminary Bulldogs

The LaBrae Vikings will head out to take on the Poland Seminary Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. LaBrae is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

LaBrae is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs on Thursday, they were much more limited against Champion on Saturday. They lost 12-2 to the Golden Flashes. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vikings have suffered since April 1st.

LaBrae saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shelby Bragg, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Poland Seminary and Hubbard, and Poland Seminary kept the tradition alive. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 10-6 on Friday.

Madison Medvec spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kylee Hudran was incredible, going 2-for-4 with seven RBI, one triple, and one run. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Leanna Boccieri, who went 2-for-4 with three runs.

LaBrae has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-5 record this season. As for Poland Seminary, their win bumped their record up to 12-9.

Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. LaBrae hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Poland Seminary struggles in that department as they've averaged .377. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
