Softball Recap: Bedford Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Chestnut Ridge, Bedford was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Penn Cambria Panthers a 10-0 shutout. The Bisons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Rebekah Costal was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Leah Nee, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Bedford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .458. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win snapped Bedford's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-6 record. As for Penn Cambria, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Bedford will head out to challenge Juniata Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bisons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hornets have averaged an impressive 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Penn Cambria, they will take on Bishop McCort at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
