Baseball Game Preview: Burlington Cougars vs. Limon Badgers

Burlington is 2-8 against Limon since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Cougars will be playing at home against the Badgers at 3:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Burlington made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Wray, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Cougars blew past the Eagles 8-2 on Saturday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Lenny Ramirez, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Darian McDonough was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Limon had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Saturday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 10-9 W against the Bobcats. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Badgers considering their one-run performance the game before.

Limon let Camdyn Tacha and Braxten Churchwell run wild. Tacha scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Churchwell scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Scherrer, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.

Limon's win was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Burlington, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-6.
