Recap: Phoenix Academy Firebirds vs. Oak Ridge Military Academy Eagles
The Phoenix Academy Firebirds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They suffered a rough 63-39 defeat at the hands of Oak Ridge Military Academy. While losing is never fun, Phoenix Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 475th, while Oak Ridge Military Academy is ranked 72nd).
Despite the defeat, Phoenix Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jeremiah Thomas scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chayse Gallo, who scored eight points.
Phoenix Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Oak Ridge Military Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 29-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Phoenix Academy will challenge Community Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oak Ridge Military Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Hargrave Military Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
