Basketball Recap: Dilley Wolves vs. Crystal City Javelinas
The Dilley Wolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against Crystal City, falling 95-59. Dilley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-31.
Dilley lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Seth Cano, who scored 21 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cano has scored all season. Dorian Aranda was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Crystal City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jayden Rousseau out in front who scored 30 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Mata, who scored 16 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds.
Dilley has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season. As for Crystal City, they pushed their record up to 17-11 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dilley will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Owls at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th. As for Crystal City, they will challenge the Mustangs at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Natalia is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
