Basketball Preview: Hamilton Big Blue vs. Harrison Wildcats
The Hamilton Big Blue will head out on the road to face off against the Harrison Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hamilton is no doubt hoping to put an end to a 16-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Wednesday, Hamilton had to suffer through a rough 69-41 loss at the hands of the Firebirds. While losing is never fun, Hamilton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while the Firebirds are ranked 38th).
Meanwhile, Harrison waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Talawanda 52-16 at home. Harrison has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 20 points or more this season.
Alli Robertson was her usual excellent self, scoring 28 points. She hasn't dropped below 16 points for 15 straight games. Abby Smith was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Hamilton has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Harrison, they have been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Hamilton was taken down by the Wildcats 72-32 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Hamilton was down 39-18.
