Basketball Game Preview: Morrisania Lions vs. Mott Haven Mavericks

The Morrisania Lions will look to defend their home court against the Mott Haven Mavericks at 4:30 p.m. Morrisania has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Morrisania turned things around against Morris on Thursday. They blew past the Bulldogs, posting a 44-9 victory.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mott Haven beat South Bronx 40-36 on Tuesday. Given the Mavericks' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 161st, while the Phoenix are ranked 323rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mott Haven's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.1 points per game. As for Morrisania, their victory bumped their record up to 4-6.
