Volleyball Recap: Front Range Baptist Falcons vs. Denver Waldorf Spartans
After flying high against Campion Academy on Thursday, Front Range Baptist came back down to earth. The Front Range Baptist Falcons took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Denver Waldorf Spartans on Friday. The Falcons have struggled against the Spartans recently, as their game on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
While Front Range Baptist ultimately came up short, they really made Denver Waldorf work, particularly in the second set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 27-25, 20-25, 25-21.
Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Gerrard, who had ten kills and two aces. Gerrard is on a roll when it comes to kills, as she's now had ten or more in the last three games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadyn Woods, who had six kills and two aces.
She wasn't the only good server: Front Range Baptist was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in October of 2023.
Kalyn Stanley was the offensive standout of the game as she had eight aces, four digs, and two kills.
Front Range Baptist's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Denver Waldorf, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Mile High Academy the next time they take the court. Front Range Baptist will host Mile High Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Denver Waldorf will head out to face them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
