Softball Game Preview: Lorain Titans vs. Elyria Pioneers

The Lorain Titans will head out on the road to challenge the Elyria Pioneers at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. Lorain will be strutting in after a victory while Elyria will be coming in after a defeat.

Lorain took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against Clearview, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Lorain had just enough and edged out Clearview 12-10. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.

Olivia Charlton looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off only two hits.

At the plate, Lorain got a massive performance out of Vada Blankenship, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four RBI. Alonna Coleman was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing seven bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Elyria had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost 9-2 to Avon on Tuesday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.

Elyria saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaelyn Green, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Lorain suffered a grim 30-6 defeat to Elyria in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. Can Lorain avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
