Softball Recap: South Find Success

While South's victory against Banning wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Spartans won by a run and slipped past the Pilots 9-8. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Camila Callau was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Sofia Ayabarreno was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. They are 7-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

South is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Banning, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.

South didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 14-5 victory against North on the 30th. As for Banning, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, an 18-0 win against Gardena on the 28th.
