Basketball Recap: Southern Lab Falls Short Against Ranked Lafayette Christian Academy

On Thursday, Southern Lab faced Lafayette Christian Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Southern Lab Kittens fell to the Lafayette Christian Academy Knights 48-43. The game marked the Kittens' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Southern Lab lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Asia Patin, who posted nine points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Patin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalana Earl, who put up eight points and three blocks.

Southern Lab's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 13-4. As for Lafayette Christian Academy, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-5.

Southern Lab didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 42-28 victory against Edna Karr on the 11th. As for Lafayette Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Lafayette Renaissance Charter Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
