League recap: Rice powers Watkins Memorial with hot hitting week

Luke Rice was the hottest hitter in the league this week, racking up a .615 average with three RBIs. His Watkins Memorial team went 1-1.

With a rough week, New Albany dropped out of the state's top 25 rankings. New Albany fell from No. 19 to No. 38 after going 1-1 over the past week. The Eagles are ranked No. 1718 in the nation, and have an overal record of 18-8.

Hayes's pitching was especially stingy this week, allowing 19 hits and nine walks to lead the league in both categories. The Pacers have given up a mere 167 hits on the year in addition to compiling 94 strikeouts. Tyler Miller is the leader in that category with 24 Ks on the season.

The Warriors scored a league-best 33 runs this week, adding to their league-leading 134 runs on the season. Reno Reda is the team leader in runs scored with 19, while Rice has driven in a team-best 16 runs with his bat.



The Warriors's Even Werner led the league in strikeouts this week with nine. With 19 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks fifth in the league.

Rice led the league with eight hits this week for Watkins Memorial. He is third in the league with 24 hits this year, and has a .338 batting average.
