Softball Recap: Petaluma Drops Highest Score of Season Against Justin-Siena

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Petaluma). They put the hurt on the Justin-Siena Braves with a sharp 19-2 victory on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Taylor Cook looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lauren Wilson was incredible, firing off two home runs, eight RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. Bella Hudson was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Petaluma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. They are 12-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Petaluma is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Justin-Siena, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-15.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Petaluma will face off against rival Vintage at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Trojans 3, the Crushers 2) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Justin-Siena is set to take on their familiar foe Sonoma Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
