After flying high against Raleigh Charter on Friday, Research Triangle came back down to earth. The Raptors fell just short of the NCSSM: Durham Unicorns by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Raptors' defeat signaled the end of their ten-game winning streak.

Research Triangle started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 26-28, 19-25, 25-18, 27-25, 15-12.

Jacee Oneal paced Research Triangle's offense, picking up 20 kills. Oneal got some help from Mckenzie Furlow and her 22 assists. Furlow also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Kat Liquorie, racking up five apiece.

Tess Crumpton was nothing short of spectacular for NCSSM: Durham: she had 27 digs and three aces. Those 27 digs gave Crumpton a new career-high.

Research Triangle's loss dropped their record down to 13-3. As for NCSSM: Durham, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Research Triangle will face off against rival Voyager Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, NCSSM: Durham is set to take on their familiar foe Triangle Math & Science at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
