Preview: Spencer Greenwave vs. Northside Patriots
The Spencer Greenwave will be home for the holidays to greet the Northside Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Spencer has six straight wins, Northside has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Spencer scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They really took it to Rutland for the full four quarters, racking up a 88-6 win at home. That looming 88-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Spencer yet this season.
It was another big night for Alexandria Berk, who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists. That's the first time this season that she pulled down eight or more rebounds. Naomi Berk was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with eight steals and seven assists.
Meanwhile, Northside pushed their score all the way to 55 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Shaw by a score of 57-55.
Spencer pushed their record up to 6-0 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for Northside, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-7 record last season and are now at 0-6.
Spencer didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Northside when the teams last played last Friday, but they still walked away with a 48-43 victory. Does Spencer have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
