Recap: Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs vs. Southport Cardinals        
        
		
            
 It was a good run, but  the Franklin Community Grizzly Cubs unfortunately witnessed the end of their  three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Southport  73-68. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Franklin Community came into the  match with a sizable advantage  in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings  (they are ranked 20th, while Southport is ranked 113th).
 When it comes to explaining why Franklin Community lost, one person who can't be blamed is  Micah Davis. Despite the final result, he  scored 35 points along with seven  rebounds and four  steals. Davis hasn't dropped below two  steals for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was  Grant Hunter, who  scored 17 points along with four  steals.
 Southport found their leader in underclassman  James Kalala, who  dropped  a double-double on 23 points and 14  rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points  Kalala has scored all season.  Jack Turner was another key contributor,  scoring 11 points along with five  rebounds and two  steals.
 Franklin Community's defeat  ended  a  five-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 13-3. As for Southport, their win bumped their record up to 5-9.
 Franklin Community will head out on the road to  square off against  Warren Central at 1:30  p.m.  on Saturday. As for Southport, they will be playing at home against Decatur Central at 7:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Decatur Central knows how to get  points on the board -- the  team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Southport likes a good challenge.
