Basketball Recap: Blue Ridge Early College Falls Despite Big Games from Anthony Baumgarner and Dakota Kinsey

Blue Ridge Early College was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 13th straight defeat. They fell 60-52 to the Highlands Highlanders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Highlanders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-27 last Tuesday.

Dakota Kinsey and Anthony Baumgarner certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Kinsey almost dropped a double-double with 13 points and nine boards, while Baumgarner posted 12 points and seven steals. The dominant performance gave Baumgarner a new career-high in steals. Another player making a difference was William Russell, who had eight points and five rebounds.

Blue Ridge Early College's loss dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Highlands, their victory bumped their record up to 7-15.

Blue Ridge Early College wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 85-28 defeat against Robbinsville on the 8th. As for Highlands, they have also already played their next game, a 73-24 loss against Hayesville on the 8th.
