Basketball Recap: Palmer Comes Up Short

Palmer lost against High Plains back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Palmer Tigers were outmatched by the High Plains Storm and fell 76-32. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while the Storm are ranked 114th).

High Plains' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Haden Helgoth, who went 6 for 9 on his way to 14 points. The dominant performance gave Helgoth a new career-high in points. Carter Urkoski was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds.

Palmer has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season. As for High Plains, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Palmer wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 65-20 loss against Fullerton on the 20th. As for High Plains, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-43 win against Nebraska Lutheran on the 16th.
