Softball Game Preview: Lake-Lehman Knights vs. Mid Valley Spartans

The Lake-Lehman Knights will challenge the Mid Valley Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Lake-Lehman took a loss when they played away from home on May 12th, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over Western Wayne. The high-scoring effort was just what the Knights needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Meanwhile, Mid Valley got themselves on the board against Riverside on Thursday, but Riverside never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 15-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won seven in a row.

Mid Valley got a massive performance out of Krista Cortazar, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Cortazar has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Elise Larson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

Mid Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverside only posted an OBP of .000.

Lake-Lehman is on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Mid Valley, their win bumped their record up to 19-3-1.
