Basketball Recap: Santa Rosa Christian vs. Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators

Santa Rosa Christian came into Thursday's game having lost 16 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 68-58 win over Gulf Pointe Latin on Thursday. Santa Rosa Christian's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why Gulf Pointe Latin lost, one person who can't be blamed is Micah Crumpler. Despite the final result, he scored 15 points along with five blocks. Dean Fillmore was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six rebounds and two steals.

Santa Rosa Christian's win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-15. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Santa Rosa Christian will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. East Hill Christian and the are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Lions at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd. Hopefully Aletheia Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 32 last Friday.
