Basketball Game Preview: Lanier Bulldogs vs. Quitman Panthers

The Lanier Bulldogs will take on the Quitman Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lanier is coming into the game hot, having won their last nine games.

Lanier is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. Everything went their way against Forrest County Agricultural as Lanier made off with a 59-37 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Quitman duked it out with Bay on Monday. Quitman secured a 36-30 W over Bay. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.

Quitman's win came from a few key players Lanier will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was RAYNESHA EVANS-BONNER, who went 5 for 7 to rack up 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Those 11 points gave her a new career-high. TATIYONNA PITTMAN was another key player, putting up eight points and seven boards.

Lanier's record now sits at 15-5. As for Quitman, their record is now 18-9.

Lanier skirted past Quitman 38-36 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lanier since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
