Basketball Recap: Pikes Peak Christian Takes a Loss

Pikes Peak Christian was the 80-40 winner over Front Range Christian when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Pikes Peak Christian Eagles fell to the Front Range Christian Falcons 50-44. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Pikes Peak Christian lost on Saturday, don't look at Eddie Harmon. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. That was a full 36.4% of Pikes Peak Christian's points, marking the third time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Wehner, who scored seven points and six rebounds.

Front Range Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zach Woo led the charge by going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 28 points and six boards. Those 28 points gave Woo a new career-high. Haedan Morton was another key player, going 7 of 17 en route to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals.

Pikes Peak Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Front Range Christian, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-9.

The future could be bright for both Pikes Peak Christian and Front Range Christian: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Pikes Peak Christian will try to hand Dolores Huerta Prep their eighth-straight loss when the two meet at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Front Range Christian will look to extend Clear Creek's seven-game losing streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
