Hoover extended their winning streak  to five  on Friday, bumping them up to 6-3. They narrowly escaped with a  win as the  squad sidled past the Thompson Warriors  33-30. The Buccaneers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warriors, too.
 Kaleb Freeman was the offensive standout of the  contest as he threw for 187 yards and one  touchdown on only 12 passes, and also rushed for 35 yards. His passing game has become a key predictor of Hoover's success: the team is 5-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.  Jonah Winston also made an appearance on special teams (luckily for the Buccaneers): his  a 55-yard strike wound up winning them the game.
 Special teams also played a big role in the game for Hoover, adding 15 points to the final score. All came from  James Bryant: he went 4-for-4 kicking field goals for 12 points, and 3-for-3  kicking extra points for an additional three.
As for Thompson, their  defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-3. The defensive woes were  uncharacteristic for they, who until this  game were averaging 12.89  points allowed.
 Despite the loss, Thompson still got an impressive performance from   Trent Seaborn, who threw for 272 yards and a pair of  TDs while completing 87% of his passes, and also punched in one  score on the ground.  Urijah Casey helped  Seaborn out on the ground, rushing for 79 yards and one  touchdown.
 We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Hoover is set to  face off against  their familiar foe Vestavia Hills  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Meanwhile, Thompson will  square off against  rival Prattville  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
