After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Lumberton brought some dynamite into their most recent matchup. They put the hurt on the Douglas Byrd Eagles with a sharp 22-0 win on Thursday. The Pirates' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Ava Hanna was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaelyn Hammond, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024. Leea Wilkins was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2.

Lumberton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .897. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory snapped Lumberton's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-11 record. As for Douglas Byrd, they dropped their record down to 0-13 with the defeat, which was their 18th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Lumberton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 loss against Purnell Swett on the 15th. As for Douglas Byrd, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Seventy-First at 6:00 p.m. on the 24th.
