Baseball Recap: Roane County Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Roane County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Loudon Redskins on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their matchups with the Redskins: they've now won three in a row.

Blake Herrell was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Herrell was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Herrell is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Blake Hester was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

Roane County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Roane County's win bumped their record up to 6-2-1. As for Loudon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Roane County and Loudon could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. Roane County will face off against Grace Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday down 78 places (91 vs. 13). Similarly, Loudon (ranked 146th) will meet Alcoa (ranked 27th) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
