Basketball Recap: Cary Christian Victorious

If Wake Christian Academy wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Cary Christian, they should've done a better job of containing Andrew Neal. The Cary Christian Knights put the hurt on the Wake Christian Academy Bulldogs with a sharp 65-39 victory on Friday thanks in part to Neal, who went 11 for 17 on his way to 31 points. His evening made it 11 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Despite the defeat, Wake Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Preston Avery went 9 of 15 en route to 18 points and five boards.

Cary Christian's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Wake Christian Academy, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.

Cary Christian will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against St. David's at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th. As for Wake Christian Academy, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-49 loss against D.H. Conley on the 18th.
