Basketball Game Preview: Messmer Bishops vs. Heritage Christian Patriots

The Messmer Bishops will face off against the Heritage Christian Patriots at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Messmer's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

While Messmer didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They escaped with a win on Saturday against Kingdom Prep Lutheran by the margin of a single free throw, 69-68. The 69-point effort marked the Bishops' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, Heritage Christian ended up a good deal behind Luther Prep on Saturday and lost 59-45.

Messmer will need focus on slowing down Jordan Draeger, one of several Heritage Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He posted ten points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Marcus Seroyer, who put up 13 points and five rebounds.

Messmer's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Heritage Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

Messmer might still be hurting after the 101-78 defeat they got from Heritage Christian in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Messmer avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
