Softball Recap: St. Cloud Comes Up Short

After flying high against Olympia on Wednesday, St. Cloud came back down to earth. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Lake Wales Highlanders by a score of 5-4 on Friday. If the Bulldogs were looking for revenge after losing 9-6 to the Highlanders when the teams met back in February of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

St. Cloud saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madelis Reyes, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another was Zhyra De La Cruz, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

St. Cloud's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Lake Wales, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, St. Cloud will square off against Lake Minneola at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Lake Wales, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Sebring at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
