Soccer Game Preview: Basehor-Linwood vs. Sumner Academy

The Basehor-Linwood Bobcats will face off against the Sumner Academy Sabres on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Basehor-Linwood took a four-goal loss the last time they faced off against Heritage Christian Academy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bobcats narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Chargers 2-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Basehor-Linwood.

Meanwhile, Sumner Academy put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Highland Park 9-1. The result was nothing new for Sumner Academy, who have now won 11 contests by four goals or more so far this season.

Sumner Academy pushed their record up to 12-0-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those five games. As for Basehor-Linwood, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.

Everything went Basehor-Linwood's way against Sumner Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2016, as Basehor-Linwood made off with a 4-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
