Softball Recap: Laker Comes Up Short

After soaring to 11 runs the game before, Laker was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Unionville-Sebewaing Patriots. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lakers of the 12-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Madelyn Warneck spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

Laker has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Unionville-Sebewaing, they moved to 5-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Laker will face off against Bad Axe at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Unionville-Sebewaing, they will take on Kingston at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
