Bunker Hill and Newton-Conover are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2022, but likely not for long. The Bears will host the Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bunker Hill will be strutting in after a victory while Newton-Conover will be coming in after a loss.
On Thursday, Bunker Hill was able to grind out a solid win over East Burke, taking the game 13-9.
Michael Camby made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. Camby was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Bunker Hill let Kamden Bortz and Ross Fickling run wild. Bortz got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Fickling went 3-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most hits Fickling has posted since back in March of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiden Garrett, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Newton-Conover's offense. They came up short against North Lincoln on Friday, falling 11-0. The Red Devils haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.
Newton-Conover saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was David Robison, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Bunker Hill's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-12. As for Newton-Conover, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
