Recap: Doddridge County Bulldogs vs. Clay-Battelle Cee Bees
The Doddridge County Bulldogs have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clay-Battelle. Doddridge County has not had much luck with Clay-Battelle recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Jerod Trent and Brandon Hileman certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Trent scored 14 points along with three steals, while Hileman scored 14 points. Trent is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Thomas, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Doddridge County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Clay-Battelle, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-5.
Doddridge County will take on Notre Dame at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Doddridge County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday. As for Clay-Battelle, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Weir on February 9th. Clay-Battelle knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Weir likes a good challenge.
