Softball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Sunrise Mountain came out on top against Centennial on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run sixth inning. The Mustangs took their contest against the Coyotes 10-6. The game was the first time the Mustangs have beaten the Coyotes on their field since April 3, 2023.

The team relied heavily on Kaelani Paulino, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Anisa Garcia also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sunrise Mountain kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory was the third in a row for Sunrise Mountain, bringing their record up to 9-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Centennial, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-9.

Coming up, Sunrise Mountain will face off against Desert Ridge at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Centennial will be paying especially close attention to the Mustangs' game: after the Mustangs face off against the Jaguars, they'll take on Centennial again at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
