Recap: Evergreen Cougars vs. Bear Creek Bears
The Evergreen Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Bear Creek 49-45. Evergreen was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Bear Creek apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Several Cougars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Addison McEvers, who scored 13 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gretchen Lynch, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Evergreen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Olivia Kan, who scored 18 points for Bear Creek. Rachel Vasey was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Evergreen's defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 7-4. As for Bear Creek, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evergreen will challenge Alameda at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Alameda will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 300th, while Evergreen is ranked 64th). As for Bear Creek, they will head out on the road to challenge Littleton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Littleton is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
