Softball Recap: Shelton Snags Sixth Win in Last Seven Games

Shelton won the last time they faced Wilbur Cross and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Gaels blew past the Governors 15-1. The Gaels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by nine runs or more this season.

Blake Hall was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Hall was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Tori Silva was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Jeanise Serrano, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Shelton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .652. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Shelton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Wilbur Cross, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Shelton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Hand on the 2nd. As for Wilbur Cross, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, an 11-7 win against Hillhouse on the 2nd.
