Preview: Washington County Bulldogs vs. Fruitdale Pirates
Washington County is 9-1 against Fruitdale since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Washington County Bulldogs will square off against the Fruitdale Pirates at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Washington County has four straight victories, Fruitdale has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Even though Washington County has not done well against Millry recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Washington County's win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-0. As for Fruitdale, they bumped their record down to 0-6 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Everything came up roses for Washington County against Fruitdale in their previous matchup back in November as the team secured a 70-31 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Fruitdale's Deion Taylor, who scored 21 points.
