Softball Recap: Frontier Falcons vs. Seeger Patriots
Frontier extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 3-7. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Seeger Patriots. If the Falcons were looking for revenge after losing 31-18 to the Patriots when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Sarah Trapp put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Trapp was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Trapp wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tatum Lear, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
As for Seeger, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games.
On Seeger's side, Zoe Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. Thomas has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Lainie Serie was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sydney Stephen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Frontier will venture away from home to face off against North White at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Seeger, they will head out to square off against South Vermillion at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
