Softball Game Preview: Buhach Colony Thunder vs. Ripon Indians

The Buhach Colony Thunder will be taking part in a tournament against the Ripon Indians at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Buhach Colony has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Buhach Colony managed to slip by Los Banos the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Thunder lost 15-3 to the Tigers on Thursday.

Meanwhile, Ripon had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. They blew past the Wildcats 13-4.

Angelina Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alana Hernandez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Clara Townsend, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Ripon's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Buhach Colony, they dropped their record down to 7-10 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
