Basketball Recap: Shelby Valley Takes a Loss

Shelby Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. The game between them and the Floyd Central Jaguars didn't end well, with the Shelby Valley Wildcats falling 62-46. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while the Jaguars are ranked 102nd).

Floyd Central found their leader in freshman Maddy Engle, who went 7 for 12 on her way to 18 points. The contest was Engle's third in a row with at least ten points. Allie Adkins was another key player, as she made all 5 shots she took to post 10 points.

Shelby Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Floyd Central, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-5.

Shelby Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 66-24 defeat against Tug Valley on the 23rd. Floyd Central has also already played their next game, a 67-61 loss against Betsy Layne on the 24th.
