Central had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Notre Dame Bulldogs, sneaking past 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tigers have posted against the Bulldogs since April 19, 2021.

Central's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ayden McGuire, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Jathan Spain was another, earning one run and two stolen bases.

Central pushed their record up to 10-8 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-11-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central will take on Poplar Bluff at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Notre Dame, they will welcome Scott City at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
