Volleyball Recap: Newark Starts Season with Victory Against Moline + How To Watch

Newark took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They came out on top against the Moline Maroons by a score of 2-0. This was payback for the Norsemen, who suffered a 2-1 loss the last time these two teams met.

Newark never let Moline on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-13, 28-26.

Among those leading the charge was Morgan Hergenhahn, who had five aces and four digs. Those five aces gave her a new career-high.

Hergenhahn wasn't the only good server: Newark was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in four consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Newark will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Marquette at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Moline, they will host Riverdale at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
