Softball Recap: Cascade Wins Going Away Against Shorewood

Cascade barely beat Shorewood the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Cascade blew past Shorewood 10-3 on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Bruins, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Allison Gehrig was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Lauryn Thompson was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

The victory made it two in a row for Cascade and bumps their season record up to 2-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing 11 strikeouts in those games compared to only 2.33 in the others. As for Shorewood, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-2.

Looking ahead, Cascade is taking a road trip to face off against Snohomish at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Cascade's pitchers better be ready for this one: Snohomish has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Shorewood, they will welcome Arlington at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
