Basketball Game Preview: Murrieta Valley Nighthawks vs. La Sierra Eagles

The Murrieta Valley Nighthawks will take on the La Sierra Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Murrieta Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Murrieta Valley will head into Saturday's match hoping to keep the good times rolling: they had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 29-point they dealt Blair on Saturday. Murrieta Valley claimed a resounding 110-81 win over Blair. The Nighthawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 27 points or more this season.

Parker Steffen and Jaizahn Lewis were among the main playmakers for Murrieta Valley as the former went 13 of 22 en route to 33 points, to go along with eight assists and three steals and the latter almost dropped a double-double on 23 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Steffen is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Jayden Dykes, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 12 points and four steals.

Meanwhile, La Sierra had to suffer through a 69-31 loss at the hands of Pioneer. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

La Sierra's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Murrieta Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Murrieta Valley didn't have too much breathing room in their game against La Sierra in their previous matchup back in December of 2016, but they still walked away with a 50-44 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Murrieta Valley since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
