Fox River Classic recap Oct. 16, 2012
Southwest scored a stunning upset when it knocked off Bay Port, 21-13. At the time, the Pirates were ranked 20th in the state, while the Fighting Trojans were 37th.
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Southwest, who took down 20th ranked Bay Port, 21-13.
Colton Peterson threw for 163 yards and two touchdowns. He was 16-26 with two interceptions.
Taylor Gregory was the best wideout in Fox River Classic this week as South bested North. Gregory tallied four receptions for 73 yards. Andrew Wildmann helped South's passing attack out by catching four balls for 46 yards.
Boris Ristivojevic was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 17 carries, he ran for 91 yards as the Redwings defeated the Golden Raiders. Ben Steen also contributed to the rushing game with 35 yards on the ground.
Bay Port's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Pirates feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Peterson has thrown for 1217 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Peyton Armstrong has 38 catches for 566 yards. Alec Ingold leads the league in rushing with 815 yards.
A big matchup in Fox River Classic this week will be when De Pere takes on Pulaski. The Redbirds are in fourth place, while the Red Raiders are in fifth place.
Bryce Paup's team was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after besting Gary Westerman's team. The Fighting Trojans came in at 12 in the state poll after placing at number 37 last week.
