Softball Game Preview: Southeastern RVT Hawks vs. Upper Cape Cod RVT Rams

The Southeastern RVT Hawks will face off against the Upper Cape Cod RVT Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither Southeastern RVT nor Upper Cape Cod RVT posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Southeastern RVT came into this matchup off a tough 17-run defeat on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Wareham by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Becca Hornung was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Hornung was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-2.

Hornung wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Bella Milks, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Upper Cape Cod RVT came up short against Bristol-Plymouth RVT on Wednesday, falling 13-1. The loss put an end to the Rams' undefeated start to the season.

Southeastern RVT's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Upper Cape Cod RVT, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Southeastern RVT suffered a grim 19-9 defeat to Upper Cape Cod RVT in their previous matchup back in May of 2019. Can the Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
