Baseball Recap: Saturday's Defeat Ends Skyline's Winning Streak

Skyline dropped their record down to 12-11 on Saturday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell 6-1 to the Brighton Bengals. The Eagles were red-hot at the plate heading into the contest (they scored no less than ten runs in the six games prior), but the Bengals' pitchers proved too tough.

Jacob Beesley was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed over his last four matches.

On the hitting side, Skyline saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Jaggi, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was Jaggi's first of the season.

As for Brighton, their victory bumped their record up to 20-3. The win continues a trend for them in their matchups with Skyline: they've now won nine in a row.

On Brighton's side, Wilder Strong looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Strong a new career-high.

At the plate, Jack Saba and Easton Fry did most of the damage at the plate: Saba went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run, while Fry went 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. Fry is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as he's now launched at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Riley Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

While Skyline had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
