Baseball Recap: Lincoln Southwest Takes Down Ranked Lincoln Northeast

Lincoln Southwest faced Lincoln Northeast in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Silver Hawks were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Rockets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Silver Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Garrett Walsh tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

At the plate, Brennan Vernon was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Luke Mitchell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Lincoln Southwest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive matches.

Lincoln Southwest's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-11. As for Lincoln Northeast, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 14-11 record.

Lincoln Southwest wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Lincoln East on the 6th. As for Lincoln Northeast, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 8-1 victory against Omaha Northwest on the 6th.
