Basketball Recap: Hamburg Takes a Loss

Hamburg was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 29th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] 72-6. The Wildcats lost against East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 59-30 score last time.

Lizzie Schlueter was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 42 points and 12 boards for East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax]. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which Schlueter has scored at least a third of East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax]'s points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Oswald, who posted seven points along with ten steals and six rebounds.

Hamburg's loss dropped their record down to 0-13. As for East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax], the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-8.

Hamburg has already played their next game (against Griswold), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] will venture away from home to take on Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Humboldt-Table Rock-Steinauer is on a three-game streak of home wins, East Atchison [Tarkio/Fairfax] a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
