Elkhart has gone a perfect 5-0 against Mexia recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Elkhart Elks are taking a road trip to square off against the Mexia Black Cats at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elkhart has eight straight wins, Mexia has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Elkhart's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Westwood 20-0. The Elks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by ten runs or more this season.

Marisa Denny was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Ella Lively was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Londyn Holland, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Elkhart was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Mexia's offense. They lost 11-0 to Buffalo on Tuesday.

Elkhart's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.2 runs over those games. As for Mexia, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Everything went Elkhart's way against Mexia in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Elkhart made off with an 18-0 win. Will Elkhart repeat their success, or does Mexia have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
