Basketball Recap: Magruder Colonels vs. Richard Montgomery Rockets
The Magruder Colonels entered their tilt with the Richard Montgomery Rockets with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Magruder enjoyed a cozy 70-54 win over the Rockets on Monday. For Magruder, this counts as revenge for the 70-54 defeat the Rockets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2023.
Magruder had a senior duo take command as Sekou Bangoura scored 27 points along with five rebounds and Aiden Dabbondanza dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 rebounds. Gerald Suarez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven rebounds.
Magruder pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for Richard Montgomery, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.
Magruder will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolverines at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Watkins Mill will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 259th, while the Colonels are ranked 64th). Richard Montgomery's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Blue Devils on February 9th.
